A House of Our Own

A House of Our Own is a narrative sandbox demo that places players in a quirky inheritance story: you and your fiancée move into a relative's mansion to become live-in caretakers for a cat that inherits the house. The demo focuses on character-driven scenes, free-roam exploration of the house, and mature, conversational interactions rather than action or complex systems.

Key Features

The A House of Our Own demo offers open-house navigation that lets players explore rooms, trigger events and manage low-stakes interactions in a relaxed sandbox environment. The current build includes roughly 350 renders and 14 animations spread across an introduction and four events, providing visual variety for short play sessions. Strong character focus is central to the experience: players meet Dave (the renamable main character), Joanne (your fiancée), Charlie the cat and a mysterious maid, and most scenes are driven by dialogue and relationships.

Advantages

As a short, accessible demo, A House of Our Own introduces core characters and mechanics without a large time commitment; a typical playthrough takes about 20 minutes and concludes after the first night. The writing emphasizes slice-of-life comedy and conversational mechanics, and the presentation includes a substantial number of renders and multiple animations for an early build. Players can progress dialogue quickly thanks to a skip function that gives control over pacing.

Disadvantages

This build is a limited demo and stops after one night, so content is presently smaller than the planned full release. The experience includes mature themes that may not appeal to all players, and several themes (including cheating, pregnancy, and certain gender or identity topics) are intentionally excluded from development, which may disappoint some audiences.

Version Information

Future updates aim to expand the game beyond the demo: a v0.1 planned for 2026 will add daily interactions and additional mature interactions with Joanne, followed by further updates that introduce more events with the maid and up to two additional residents in the house. The roadmap is staged by content priorities.

Development Team

The project is developed by a small independent creator who focuses on hand-crafted content; a very small amount of AI assistance was used for one joke image and the logo, while the remainder of art and code is human-made. Paid work is handled on an hourly basis and updates will follow the published roadmap.
