Flash Me!

Flash Me! is a compact utility that transforms your Android device into a versatile flashlight and notification manager, combining steady torch control with customizable strobe effects and quick-access widgets. It balances simple one-tap operation with fine-grained settings for brightness, blink patterns, and notification synchronization.

Quick look

Designed for users who need dependable illumination and expressive alerts, Flash Me! blends practical tools with a clean interface. It supports continuous LED, screen-based light modes, and a suite of timers and safety options for everyday use.

What you get

• Instant torch — turn the LED on or off with a single tap.
• Custom strobe patterns — choose speed, rhythm, and intensity for signaling.
• Screen light mode — use full-screen colors when the hardware LED is unavailable.
• Widgets and shortcuts — add one-touch controls to your home screen.

How it works

Flash Me! uses Android's camera hardware APIs to control the LED, falling back to a screen-based light when permissions are restricted or the device lacks a flash. The app separates brightness and blink controls so you can run a bright steady beam or a subtle pulsing indicator without changing other settings. A responsive toggle and instant visual feedback make operation predictable in low-light conditions.

Interface and controls

The layout emphasizes a large central button for core functionality, supported by smaller icons for mode switching and presets. Controls include a slider for intensity, a spinner for blink frequency, and a preview pane where patterns play before you activate them. Settings are organized into categories like "Power", "Patterns", and "Safety" to help users find options quickly.

Customization options

Users can save multiple profiles for different scenarios — jogging at night, emergency signaling, or reading. Each profile stores brightness, blink sequence, and auto-off timers. The color picker in screen mode enables creative usages, such as using your phone as a color cue in presentations or as a calming night light.

Performance and battery

Flash Me! is optimized to minimize battery impact while the LED runs. The app offers a smart dimmer that reduces output after a set interval and an optional battery-saver mode that prevents the LED from running above a specified percentage. Benchmarks in real-world conditions show moderate battery draw, with much of the consumption tied directly to the hardware LED rather than the app itself.

Practical uses

Beyond basic illumination, Flash Me! supports a variety of practical scenarios: emergency SOS with an automated Morse mode, camera-compatible flash timing for improvised photography, and rhythmic patterns for bike visibility. The widget system lets you trigger a mode without unlocking the phone, useful when you need light instantly.

Tips for new users

• Start with the default profile to get a feel for brightness and blink speed.
• Use the auto-off timer to avoid draining battery when you forget to turn the light off.
• Set a low-power profile for prolonged use, such as reading or camping.
• Test the Morse and SOS presets in a safe, controlled environment before relying on them in emergencies.

Safety and permissions

To operate the LED, Flash Me! requests standard camera permissions. The app makes clear why each permission is required and includes a guide to enable fallback screen lighting if permissions are denied. Additional safeguards include an auto-disable on overheating and a lock-screen widget option that limits accidental activations.

Why people choose it

Users praise Flash Me! for its reliability, quick access controls, and thoughtful customization. It sits neatly between simple one-button flashlights and feature-heavy utility suites by offering essential options without clutter. Whether you need a reliable torch for nightly walks or a configurable notifier for cycling, the app adapts to both casual and specialized needs.

Getting started

Installation is straightforward from the app store: grant camera permission for full LED control, add a widget for faster access, and explore presets to find preferred settings. Regular updates add minor refinements and improve device compatibility, keeping the experience smooth across models.

Flash Me! is a practical companion for anyone who relies on their phone for light or signaling. With a clean interface, strong customization, and sensible safety measures, it earns a spot on the home screen for users who value quick, dependable tools.
