Recent leaks have provided a glimpse into Genshin Impact’s upcoming Natlan regions, and most notably, the elusive Mare Jivari area. Since its launch on September 28, 2020, Genshin Impact has steadily expanded beyond its initial regions of Mondstadt and Liyue, introducing players to Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, and now Natlan. With Version 5.0, players were given access to the first part of Natlan, exploring the lands of the Children of Echoes, Scions of the Canopy, and People of the Springs.
The next expansion for Natlan is set to arrive with Version 5.2, introducing the ruins of the Eternal Empire in Ochkanatlan and the settlement of the Flower-Feather Clan. A new character, Chasca, will also be added to the roster, offering a fresh way to navigate the region without relying on the Saurian form. Though not officially confirmed, it's rumored that Version 5.2 may also feature the territory of the Masters of the Night-Wind, alongside the debut of Ororon, a character tied to the same update.
While earlier leaks hinted at these new Natlan zones, a topographic map shared by Jelena has given a more detailed preview of what’s to come. It seems highly likely that the Collective of Plenty will play a role when the map expands toward the Great Volcano of Tollan, though its exact location remains uncertain. The map also reveals a small island between Tollan and Ochkanatlan, which could be a possible base for the Collective of Plenty. However, the most exciting discovery is an isolated isle to the far west, believed to be the fabled Mare Jivari.
The Mare Jivari has been part of Genshin Impact’s lore since Version 1.0, sparking curiosity among players for years. Often described as a sea of ashes where the wind never blows, this mysterious region lies at the westernmost edge of Teyvat and is said to feature a sea of fire. According to Jelena’s map, Mare Jivari is located far from Ochkanatlan, suggesting players will likely need the Waverider to access it. If Natlan follows the same structure as Fontaine, Mare Jivari may be the final area added to the region before the storyline moves toward Snezhnaya.
While leaks should always be approached with caution, it seems that Natlan’s overall size may be comparable to Fontaine rather than Sumeru. In addition, if rumors of a Mondstadt expansion are true, Genshin Impact’s open world could grow even larger during the Natlan era. Although Version 5.2 is scheduled for release on November 20, 2024, more information about the upcoming Natlan areas is expected to drop after October 9, 2024.
With exciting new regions and lore-rich zones like the Mare Jivari on the horizon, players have much to look forward to as Genshin Impact continues to expand its world.
