Palworld has rolled out its v0.3.8 update for the recently launched PS5 version, bringing a series of bug fixes to enhance gameplay. This popular blend of monster-catching and survival genres captured the attention of gamers earlier this year, introducing a charming array of Pals alongside a robust crafting and building system.
Upon its release, Palworld achieved remarkable sales figures across PC and Xbox platforms, selling over 7 million copies within its first week. Now, the latest update aims to refine the gaming experience on PS5.
During Sony's September State of Play event, Palworld made a surprise announcement, revealing the launch of its PS5 version. Given the high demand for this platform, rumors about the PS5 port had circulated for months prior to its release.
Although the PS5 version has already seen considerable success, it remains unavailable on PlayStation consoles in Japan. The latest update addresses various bugs to improve performance for PS5 players.
The v0.3.8 update, released on Sunday evening, includes three key fixes. While this minor update does not introduce significant new content, it focuses on resolving existing issues in the console version.
Among the fixes, players should no longer experience Pals getting stuck in their bases, nor will they encounter bugs causing their characters to clip through the ground. Additionally, crashes that occurred when building structures have also been addressed. A similar patch will be applied to the Xbox version once Microsoft completes its certification process.
This recent patch is designed to enhance the gameplay experience for PS5 users as discussions about the game’s future continue. Developer Pocketpair has confirmed plans for a substantial update later this year, although specific details remain under wraps.
Earlier this year, Pocketpair also announced a new partnership with Sony Music and Aniplex, suggesting potential plans to expand the Palworld franchise beyond its successful video game roots.
Despite the developers’ optimism, a recent legal challenge from Nintendo could pose significant hurdles for Pocketpair. Following months of speculation, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo have jointly filed a lawsuit against Palworld.
The lawsuit reportedly seeks damages and an injunction against Pocketpair, alleging patent infringement, potentially related to the game's Pal Spheres. Nevertheless, Palworld continues to push forward with its expansion plans amid these legal challenges.
Bug Fixes:
- Resolved an issue where Pals would occasionally get stuck at the base.
- Fixed a problem causing the player character to clip underground when starting the game.
- Addressed a disconnect issue when players attempted to add a roof or wall to larger structures.
