Bungie has unveiled a fresh wave of content for Destiny 2, set to launch with Act 1 of Episode: Revenant on Tuesday, October 8. This new episode picks up right after the thrilling conclusion of Episode: Echoes, as players gear up to confront Fikrul, the formidable leader of the undead Eliksni army.
In a significant shift from previous seasons, Bungie has confirmed that the entire storyline of each Act will be accessible from day one in Episode: Revenant. This means players can dive into the complete narrative without waiting for weekly story updates, addressing feedback from the community regarding the pacing issues experienced in Episode: Echoes.
During a recent developer livestream, Bungie's team provided a detailed preview of what’s to come in Act 1. Highlights include the introduction of tonic brewing and a new activity called Onslaught: Salvation. Players will receive assistance from Eido, who will enable them to create tonic capsules that grant temporary bonuses during combat.
These bonuses will feature advantages such as reduced damage from close-range attacks and enhanced effects from Revenant's artifact perks. Bungie noted that tonic brewing draws inspiration from the attunement system introduced in Destiny 2: Into the Light, which received positive feedback from players.
- All of Act 1's Story Available at Launch: Players can access the entire narrative on day one.
- New Tonic Brewing Feature: This addition offers temporary buffs and bonuses for combat.
- Onslaught: Salvation Activity: A revamped version of the popular Onslaught mode.
- Fresh Weapons, Gear, and Artifact Perks: New items to enhance gameplay.
- Vesper's Host Dungeon Launching on October 11: Just three days after the main episode's release.
Onslaught: Salvation brings a new twist to the beloved Onslaught mode, introducing three maps, new enemy factions such as the Scorn and Shadow Legion, and gameplay changes that will distinguish it from previous versions. Notably, Onslaught: Salvation will not have a power cap, emphasizing the importance of weapons and gear, making the experience slightly more challenging than the Onslaught mode introduced in Into the Light. While Bungie hasn’t disclosed the specific names of the new Revenant weapons, they have confirmed that one will be a new double-firing Stasis grenade launcher.
Additionally, the new Vesper's Host dungeon will debut on Friday, October 11, shortly after Revenant’s launch. While Bungie has not provided extensive details about the dungeon, they did announce that it will be featured in Destiny 2's first-ever Dungeon Race with Twitch Rivals, set to kick off on October 11 at 10:00 AM PT.
Lastly, Bungie shared some intriguing insights into Destiny 2 Codename: Frontiers, the new content model planned for 2025. This model will include two medium-sized expansions each year, reminiscent of the scale of 2016’s Destiny: Rise of Iron. Additionally, players can look forward to four major free updates annually, emphasizing "non-linear storytelling, systemic innovation, and enhanced core game activities," according to Bungie.
Mark your calendars for October 8, and prepare for an exciting new chapter in the Destiny 2 universe!
