Bethesda Game Studios has expanded the universe of Starfield with its first DLC, Shattered Space, taking players to the enigmatic homeworld of House Va'ruun. This expansion delves into a faction steeped in secrecy, with a space-age belief system that sets them apart from the rest of the galaxy.
Since House Va'ruun is known for its isolationist and distrustful nature, gaining access to the content on Va'ruun'kai, their home planet, requires players to embrace their religion. You'll need to convert and join House Va'ruun to explore all that Shattered Space has to offer.
Once converted, known as becoming “Promised,” players will be given one of six unique Promised titles. Characters on Va'ruun'kai will use this title to address you, and the title you receive is based on the effigies you choose during the conversion process.
In Shattered Space, there are four distinct effigies, and the combination you choose results in one of six possible Promised titles. While the choice of effigies might seem insignificant at first, the titles that you receive depend entirely on which effigies you place on the altars during the conversion.
The four effigies are:
- Strength
- Perseverance
- Obedience
- Devotion
During the conversion ritual, you’ll need to place an effigy on two altars. The specific pair you choose determines which Promised title you’ll carry throughout your time on Va'ruun'kai.
To earn the Vindicator title, select the Strength and Perseverance effigies. The order in which you place them doesn’t matter.
The Harbinger title is awarded when you pick Strength and Devotion as your effigies. Again, the sequence of your choice isn’t important.
Choosing the Strength and Obedience effigies will grant you the title of Armiger. As with other combinations, the order doesn’t affect the result.
By selecting Perseverance and Devotion, you’ll earn the Diviner title. The order in which you place these effigies remains irrelevant.
For the Adherent title, you’ll need to combine the Perseverance and Obedience effigies. As with the other titles, the order of selection makes no difference.
Lastly, the Reverent title is given to those who choose the Devotion and Obedience effigies. The sequence in which they’re placed doesn’t affect the outcome.
All of the Promised titles are purely cosmetic and have no impact on gameplay mechanics, rewards, or progression. They’re designed to offer players a sense of personalization, allowing you to choose how you’re addressed during your journey on Va'ruun'kai. There’s no advantage to picking one over the other, so feel free to select whichever name resonates with you, or simply go with whichever combination appeals to you most.
