HoYoverse has officially revealed more information about the upcoming five-star Geo character, Xilonen, who will debut in Genshin Impact’s Version 5.1 update. Xilonen will be the only new character introduced in this update, which also brings re-runs of three popular five-star characters.
During the recent Special Program event, it was confirmed that the first half of Version 5.1 will feature banners for Xilonen and Chiori. In the second half, players will get another chance to pull for Nahida, the Archon of Sumeru, and the beloved Hu Tao, Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.
A detailed Character Skill Showcase has now provided more insight into Xilonen’s abilities. Described as a versatile support unit, Xilonen specializes in reducing multi-Elemental Resistance (RES) for enemies. Armed with a sword, her Normal Attack sequence consists of three strikes—a bit unusual for a sword user, as most in the game have longer attack combos.
However, what makes Xilonen stand out is her connection to Natlan’s "Nightsoul Blessing" effect, granting her an ability called Blade Roller. When activated, her Normal Attacks change, allowing her to unleash up to four powerful kicks using roller blades, with damage scaling based on her Defense (DEF) stat.
Xilonen’s Elemental Skill, Yuhual’s Scratch, enables her to dash forward, inflicting Nightsoul-aligned Geo damage. In her roller blade state, Xilonen becomes an excellent explorer, capable of scaling steep terrain with ease. Additionally, her skill reduces specific types of Elemental Resistance based on the elemental affinities of her teammates, making her one of the most adaptable Geo characters yet.
Her Elemental Burst, Oceloticue Point, deals significant Geo damage over a wide area, also scaling with her DEF stat. If Xilonen has at least two Source Samples with altered Elemental Types, her Burst will periodically heal nearby active allies. However, if she has fewer than two samples, the Burst’s damage output increases, making her a potential sub-DPS option for Geo-focused teams.
Fans have responded enthusiastically to Xilonen’s reveal, with many praising HoYoverse for adding a flexible Geo character capable of reshaping the current meta. Her ability to reduce Elemental RES and adapt to various team compositions is expected to offer new possibilities for Geo teams. Players are also excited about her overworld exploration capabilities, thanks to her roller blade-enhanced movement.
Some fans have expressed appreciation for HoYoverse’s decision to provide detailed character breakdowns before their official release. These previews allow players to make informed decisions about whether the new characters will suit their team compositions before pulling on banners.
As Xilonen’s release approaches, players are eager to see how she will perform and what impact she will have on Genshin Impact’s ever-evolving meta.
