Monopoly Go: Understanding the Color Wheel Feature

In Scopely's popular mobile game, Monopoly Go, players have numerous opportunities to earn prizes and rewards. As you accumulate cash to enhance the buildings on your game board, you’ll notice that each upgrade adds a new house on one of the color tiles across your Monopoly Go board.

Once you’ve upgraded a color set to include hotels on all properties, landing on any of your hotels activates the Color Wheel. This is your chance to score extra rewards such as cash, stickers, or dice rolls simply by achieving the usual goals in the mobile game!

Complete a Monopoly to Activate the Color Wheel

One of the most recognizable elements of Monopoly Go is the gradual construction of houses and hotels on the colored tiles inspired by the traditional Monopoly board, referred to in the game as Property Tiles. Although the upgrade process differs from the original board game, you’ll still need to spend earned money to make progress.

Monopoly Go boasts hundreds of themed worlds that you can unlock by completing construction in the preceding one. Each game board contains five buildings to upgrade, allowing for a total of 25 upgrades per board. As you enhance them, you’ll see green house icons alongside experience tokens on the build screen, accompanied by construction workers and their dust.

In the standard version of Monopoly, there are eight color sets: six have three properties each (light blue, magenta, orange, red, yellow, and green), while two have two properties (brown and dark blue). When you return to the main game board from the themed building menu, you’ll witness houses being randomly placed across the Property Tiles.

Currently, there is no option to select the placement of houses in Monopoly Go. However, the game tends to distribute houses evenly, arranging them in a circular pattern. As you near the completion of a board, you’ll likely land on a complete color set more frequently.

Once four houses are placed on a single Property Tile, the next time the game opts to add a house on that tile, it will replace the four houses with one hotel. When every Property Tile in a color set features a hotel, the game really starts to shine!

Landing on a Property Tile within a fully upgraded monopoly allows you to reset the hotels but not before giving you the chance to spin the Color Wheel for landing on completed monopolies.

Utilize Wheel Boosts for an Extra Spin

You’re probably familiar with the daily bonus events that occur regularly in Monopoly Go, offering everything from Free Parking prizes to additional rent tiles and more.

One of these occasional events is known as Wheel Boost, identifiable by a golden wheel icon on the right side of your screen. If you land on a completed monopoly during a Wheel Boost event, you’ll receive a free second spin of the Color Wheel! Timing your board-building for these events ensures you maximize your chances of earning extra spins.

What Prizes Await on the Color Wheel in Monopoly Go?

As is typical for prize-winning scenarios in Monopoly Go, the Color Wheel is packed with exciting rewards.

While prizes may vary with seasonal events, the Color Wheel consistently includes:

- Extra Dice Rolls: You can receive immediate dice rolls that you can use at your convenience. The quantities can vary, usually falling between three or four based on the wedge you land on.

- Cash Prizes: You may win various cash amounts, which are directly added to your bank total. These prizes scale with your progress in the game, offering more significant rewards as you advance through the boards and increase your net worth.

- Sticker Packs: Each season of the Monopoly Go sticker album includes different colors of sticker packs. While you’re likely to receive a green sticker pack (the most common), there’s often a chance to land on a rare sticker pack offering elusive stickers for your collection.

- Treasure Chest: One of the rarer prizes you can land on is a treasure chest, which holds a variety of different rewards! Typically, you’ll receive a combination of the prizes listed above in various amounts.
