Blizzard has just released a launch trailer for World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary celebration, and sharp-eyed fans have spotted what appears to be recolors of the iconic Tier 2 armor sets. A glimpse of purple Judgment armor in the video has sparked speculation that Blizzard might be planning to introduce alternate color variations of these revamped Tier 2 sets in the future.
The highly anticipated 20th anniversary event is right around the corner for World of Warcraft players. At the time of writing, the game servers are down for maintenance, with Patch 11.0.5 and the anniversary event expected to go live on October 22 at 3 PM PDT.
To build excitement, Blizzard has dropped a launch trailer showcasing some of the new activities and rewards awaiting players during the anniversary event. Among the highlights is the Blackrock Depths raid, reimagined for the event, alongside updated versions of the Tier 2 armor sets. However, one particular detail in the trailer has fans buzzing – the potential for brand-new transmog recolors.
At around the 0:16 mark in the video, a character sporting what looks like a purple recolor of the remastered Tier 2 Judgment armor for Paladins can be seen charging into battle. This subtle detail suggests that Blizzard may be gearing up to offer new color variants of the beloved high-resolution Tier 2 sets.
Back during The Burning Crusade, several of the original Tier 2 sets from Vanilla WoW received recolors that were not tied to any specific class. These included fan-favorite recolors like the pink Transcendence set, the orange Nemesis, and the purple Judgment set. The updated Tier 2 transmogs are already one of the most anticipated rewards from the anniversary event, and this potential Easter egg has only fueled speculation that more recolors could be on the horizon.
It’s important to note that this discovery doesn't confirm that new recolors will be added to the game. The trailer moves quickly at the moment the purple Judgment armor appears, so it’s difficult to say with certainty whether this version is using the high-definition textures from the remastered set. It could even be the original armor model – and even if it’s a remastered recolor, there’s no guarantee it will be introduced anytime soon, or at all.
Nonetheless, the possibility of seeing new recolors of these iconic Tier 2 sets is exciting for many World of Warcraft players. Some fans even prefer the recolored versions of these armors over the original designs. Whether these variants will become available through the Trading Post, future events, or another feature, players now have renewed hope that these sought-after transmogs might make a comeback in the near future.
