Witchfire: How to Access the Wailing Tower and Solve Its Puzzles

As you venture into your first area in Witchfire, you'll notice a massive, towering structure in the distance. Though it may initially seem like a simple background feature, the Wailing Tower is an intricate challenge filled with puzzles that you must solve to uncover its mysteries.

Unlocking the Wailing Tower in Witchfire

The Wailing Tower stands at the heart of the Island of the Damned, sealed off by a glowing red barrier. As you approach its entrance, you’ll trigger a defensive mechanism that summons waves of enemies. This starts your quest to locate a “missing part” of a statue, which is necessary to disable the tower’s defenses.

In addition to finding this key item, you’ll also need to clear seven specific areas scattered across the map. These areas contain Ceremonial Obelisks that are crucial to progressing through the tower later on.

Finding the Missing Part of the Statue (Saint Albert’s Scepter)

To unlock the Wailing Tower, you first need to retrieve Saint Albert’s Scepter, located in the eastern region of the Island of the Damned. As you explore, its location will automatically be marked on your map. When you reach the site, you’ll discover a hooded corpse gripping the scepter. Clear the surrounding enemies and claim the item once the area is safe.

Locating the Ceremonial Obelisks

The seven Ceremonial Obelisks are scattered throughout the northwestern part of the map. Interacting with each obelisk will reveal a brazier symbol on your map, which will be crucial later in solving the Wailing Tower puzzle.

These shrines contain clues that hint at the correct sequence for lighting fires inside the tower. You can hover over the brazier icons on your map to read the obelisk descriptions and prepare for the puzzle ahead.

Opening the Wailing Tower Doors

After completing the previous steps, return to the Wailing Tower and clear any enemies in the vicinity. Once the area is secure, interact with the statue to the right of the entrance and place Saint Albert’s Scepter into its hands.

For those in a rush, having 5,000 Volatile Witchfire Crystals allows you to bypass the enemies by quickly interacting with the statue twice, which charges the scepter and wipes out nearby foes.

Solving the Wailing Tower Puzzle in Witchfire

Inside the Wailing Tower, you’ll find seven braziers arranged around a skeletal statue. To unlock the next area, you need to light the braziers in a specific order. However, you’ll need Gnosis 2 to perform the ritual and solve this puzzle.

Each brazier is labeled with Roman numerals (I–VII), and the activation sequence can be determined using the hints you gathered from the Ceremonial Obelisks scattered around the map. Match these clues to the corresponding braziers, and you’ll unlock the path to progress deeper into the tower.

To complete the Wailing Tower puzzle, light the braziers in the following order:
