Honkai: Star Rail, a standout title from HoYoverse, is set to make a major splash with its upcoming crossover event. Unlike its counterparts, Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero, which have had modest collaborations, Honkai: Star Rail's collaboration with Fate/Stay Night promises to be its most ambitious yet.
While HoYoverse is no stranger to collaborations, Honkai: Star Rail has largely stayed out of the limelight in this regard. Its recent crossover potential has been relatively understated compared to its peers. Even though the game is relatively new, Zenless Zone Zero’s crossover prospects had seemed more prominent. However, the imminent collaboration with Fate/Stay Night is poised to eclipse its predecessors in scale.
The ultimate goal for many gacha games in a crossover is to introduce guest characters that players can summon and play. Genshin Impact's Horizon Zero Dawn crossover, which brought Aloy into the game as a playable character, remains HoYoverse’s most ambitious crossover to date. No guest characters have been added to any of its other titles since then. Fortunately, the latest trailer for Honkai: Star Rail hints at exciting new developments.
A fresh trailer released at Gamescom offers a tantalizing preview of Honkai: Star Rail's crossover with Fate/Stay Night. Spanning approximately a minute and a half, this teaser provides a wealth of information about the event. Although many details remain under wraps, the trailer gives fans a clear sense of what's to come.
The trailer opens with a charismatic narrator recounting the tale of a man with tan skin wielding two swords—one black and one white. This description clearly points to Archer from Fate/Stay Night. The scene then transitions to Guinaifen and Sushang, where Guinaifen shares legendary stories about General Feixiao, subtly teasing the upcoming character. The narrator then echoes a famous Fate quote, "Are you my Master?"
The initial part of the trailer features playful references typical of HoYoverse’s style. However, the latter part sets the stage for what could be Honkai: Star Rail’s most significant crossover. A red flash of light streaks past the Astral Express, prompting Pom Pom to investigate what he believes to be crew-related commotion. Instead, he discovers Archer himself hiding in his cabin.
Though Archer is not shown directly, the unmistakable voice of Junichi Suwabe hints at exciting developments. It appears Archer might become a playable character in an upcoming update, which would be a significant draw for Fate fans. The crossover could potentially include other Fate/Stay Night characters, both Masters and Servants, but only time will reveal how this collaboration unfolds.
