Recent rumors hint that NetherRealm Studios is preparing to introduce two exciting new features to Mortal Kombat 1: an Online Practice mode and a "Warrior Shrine." These additions are expected to be included in an upcoming update. NetherRealm officially unveiled Khaos Reigns during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the first story-driven DLC for Mortal Kombat 1. This expansion continues the main story, with Titan Havok leading an army of malevolent warriors from different dimensions to unleash chaos on the MK universe.
Besides this intense new storyline, Khaos Reigns will bring even more content to the game. NetherRealm has announced that gender-swapped versions of Sektor and Cyrax will join the roster, alongside a revamped version of fan-favorite Noob Saibot. Players can look forward to battling with these fresh characters.
As if that wasn’t enough, the DLC will introduce three guest fighters: Ghostface from Scream, the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and the legendary Conan the Barbarian. Adding to the chaos, the iconic Animality finishers will make their return, letting players transform into vicious creatures to finish off their opponents in spectacular fashion.
Now, according to a trusted leaker on Reddit, Mortal Kombat 1 will receive even more than what’s already been confirmed. Two highly anticipated features—Online Practice mode and the mysterious "Warrior Shrine"—are rumored to be included in the game around the time Khaos Reigns launches.
The Online Practice mode has been featured in previous Mortal Kombat titles like MKX and MK11, allowing players to practice their moves and combos in a controlled environment before stepping into real fights. However, it was noticeably absent at the launch of Mortal Kombat 1, leaving fans eager for its return in a future update.
The other rumored addition, the "Warrior Shrine," remains a bit of a mystery. While its name was discovered in the game’s metadata months ago, no official details have been released. Fans have been speculating about its purpose, with some theorizing that it could be a new game mode or feature tied to unlockable content.
If the leaker’s claims are accurate, we could see both of these features arrive soon in a free update patch, meaning players won’t need to purchase the Khaos Reigns DLC to access them.
The leaker, who has a strong track record of accurate predictions for Mortal Kombat 1, shared this information in the Mortal Kombat Leaks subreddit. Although nothing has been confirmed by NetherRealm yet, these additions are expected to debut around the release of the Khaos Reigns expansion, which drops on September 24.
As the arrival of Khaos Reigns draws closer, fans already have plenty to look forward to. With the promise of new characters, thrilling storylines, and the return of beloved finishers, the possible inclusion of the Online Practice mode and "Warrior Shrine" would only further enhance the experience for both casual and competitive players.
