The cost of V-Bucks in Fortnite is set to rise for players in several countries starting in October 2024. This change will affect gamers across six nations on three different continents.
Since its launch, the price of V-Bucks—the in-game currency used in Fortnite—has remained mostly stable. While there have been occasional changes, they were usually restricted to specific platforms or regions. For example, a price increase occurred in October 2023, affecting players on PC and consoles.
In a recent update shared on September 10, Epic Games announced another price hike for V-Bucks, this time impacting players in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Nigeria, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The company attributed this decision to ongoing economic factors, including inflation and currency fluctuations. The price adjustment, which will come into effect on October 14, will see V-Bucks prices rise by approximately 20%, depending on the country.
Upcoming Changes to Fortnite V-Bucks Pricing
| Currency | 1,000 V-Bucks | 2,800 V-Bucks | 5,000 V-Bucks | 13,500 V-Bucks |
Brazil | BRL | 31.99 | 78.99 | 124.99 | 313.99 |
Chile | CLP | 6,740.00 | 17,050.00 | 27,310.00 | 68,230.00 |
Colombia | COP | 30,989.00 | 78,399.00 | 125,469.00 | 313,699.00 |
Nigeria | NGN | 8,223.32 | 20,570.67 | 32,056.50 | 82,307.42 |
Philippines | PHP | 351.99 | 879.99 | 1,407.99 | 3,522.99 |
Vietnam | VND | 156,000.00 | 389,000.00 | 626,000.00 | 1,557,000.00 |
In addition to the V-Bucks increase, Epic Games is also raising the prices of Fortnite content packs in the same six countries. Future content packs will similarly reflect this adjustment, with new releases costing more than previous ones. However, Epic assured players that the Fortnite Crew subscription service will not be affected by these changes.
Upcoming Pricing Adjustments for Fortnite Content Packs
| Currency | Operation Brite Starter Pack | Sun & Scales Pack | Scrap & Burn Pack |
Brazil | BRL | 12.99 | 15.99 | 63.99 |
Chile | CLP | 2,700.00 | 3,400.00 | 13,650.00 |
Colombia | COP | 12,399.00 | 15,639.00 | 62,709.00 |
Nigeria | NGN | 3,289.34 | 4,111.66 | 16,446.64 |
Philippines | PHP | 140.99 | 175.99 | 703.99 |
Vietnam | VND | 62,000.00 | 78,000.00 | 311,000.00 |
Epic Games has hinted that these won’t be the last price increases for Fortnite. Based on previous adjustments, the company should be able to implement the changes without taking the game offline. While the exact time for the October 14 price change has not been revealed, Epic has stated that further pricing updates will be rolled out regularly to address global economic developments.
It remains uncertain when the next round of price hikes will take place or which countries will be impacted. In 2023, Epic raised V-Bucks prices in several regions, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and across the European Union.
With these upcoming changes, Fortnite players in the affected regions will need to prepare for higher costs in both V-Bucks and content packs.
