Epic Games has rolled out significant updates to Fortnite, enhancing Shuri’s Black Panther Claws while dialing back the power of War Machine’s Hover Jet. These adjustments follow fan feedback on the Mythic items introduced in Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 4.
Much like Chapter 2 Season 4, the latest season, titled Absolute Doom, showcases Marvel’s iconic heroes and villains, complete with Mythic items tied to their powers. Players can get their hands on items like Captain America's Shield, Doctor Doom's Arcane Gauntlets, and War Machine’s Arsenal, each offering unique advantages in combat and mobility. These powerful items can be found in Doom and Avengers Chests or by defeating NPCs representing Marvel characters. With the latest update, Epic Games has focused on fine-tuning two key Mythics—buffing Shuri's Black Panther Claws and rebalancing War Machine’s Hover Jet.
The Black Panther Claws, one of the more anticipated Mythics, has received a much-needed upgrade, addressing the concerns of players who previously felt the item was underwhelming. With this update, Shuri’s Black Panther Claws now give players a boost to their sprint speed, helping them close the distance between enemies more quickly. Additionally, the range of the pounce ability has been expanded, offering more tactical flexibility in battle. These enhancements make the item more competitive with other Mythics in the game.
Before these improvements, many players had written off the Black Panther Claws as one of the weaker Mythics, especially when compared to others in the loot pool. But now, along with its improved stats, the Black Panther Claws have also been made more accessible. They can now be found as floor loot and in random chest rotations, giving players more chances to add this powerful item to their arsenal.
On the flip side, War Machine's Hover Jet has been nerfed, particularly in terms of its availability. Before the update, the Hover Jet was a frequent find in Avengers Chests, allowing many players to soar across the map. However, with players pointing out that the item was overpowered, Epic Games has reduced its spawn rate. This adjustment should lead to fewer instances of players dominating the island using the Hover Jet, bringing more balance to the game.
- Shuri’s Black Panther Claws – Buffed to increase sprint speed and extend the range of the pounce ability. Now more accessible as floor loot and in chests.
- War Machine’s Hover Jet – Nerfed by reducing its spawn rate in Avengers Chests, addressing community concerns about its overpowering presence.
Epic Games frequently responds to player feedback when making tweaks to Fortnite's weapons and items. By staying engaged with its player base through regular surveys and updates, the developers gather valuable insights into what’s working and what needs improvement. This responsive approach ensures that the game remains balanced and enjoyable, even as new Mythics and features are introduced.
With Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 scheduled to end on November 2, there’s still plenty of time for more adjustments. As Absolute Doom progresses, players can expect further buffs and nerfs to Mythic items as Epic Games works to fine-tune the gameplay experience.
