In a surprising turn of events, CD Projekt Red has unveiled a fresh update for Cyberpunk 2077, elevating the game to version 2.13. This update brings new features to the PC version, including support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR3), Intel Xe Super Sampling 1.3, and several other enhancements. Although this update is not available for PlayStation or Xbox consoles, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that cross-progression remains fully functional.

Unexpected Enhancements for PC Gamers

As anticipation builds for the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, many fans believed that support for the current game had reached its conclusion. Back in March, the game’s director announced that only minor updates would be provided moving forward, as the studio had completed its planned post-launch content. However, just six months later, PC players are enjoying a substantial update featuring a highly sought-after addition.

On September 12, Cyberpunk 2077 received official support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3, also known as FSR3. This technology enhances graphical performance by combining image upscaling with frame generation, resulting in high-resolution visuals and smoother frame rates. Previously, FSR3 was accessible only through a community mod, but the new update integrates this feature officially, allowing users to access it directly through the game’s settings.

Community Reactions and Additional Improvements

While the community has largely welcomed this update, some players are disappointed. The integration of FSR3 has the potential to disrupt numerous popular mods. Additionally, some users expressed frustration that the update includes FSR3 rather than the more advanced FSR 3.1.

The previous major update in January introduced significant improvements, including bug fixes and the new CrystalCoat feature for customizing vehicle paint colors. Although the September 12 update does not add new gameplay elements, it brings several stability and visual enhancements. Notably, it now supports Intel Xe Super Sampling 1.3, an AI-driven technology that improves image quality and performance. The update also allows for simultaneous activation of DLAA and DLSS Ray Reconstruction, adding further graphical flexibility.
