Blizzard has confirmed that the iconic Dark Lord, Diablo, will soon make his comeback in Diablo Immortal. This exciting news arrives as players gear up for the launch of Season 31, bringing fresh events and balance changes while Diablo lurks ominously in the background.
After a challenging debut that included the infamous “do you guys not have phones” comment during its BlizzCon 2018 announcement, Diablo Immortal has undergone numerous updates, introducing new content, additional gameplay modes, and an expanded storyline. Over two years since its initial release, the game continues to engage players with fresh experiences, including the Tempest class introduced in May 2024 and the limited-time crossover event, Shadow of the Frozen Throne, where players could collect Frostmourne-themed cosmetics inspired by World of Warcraft’s Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
With Season 31 launching on September 24, Blizzard has hinted at the return of the series' most notorious villain: Diablo, the Dark Lord. Following his defeat in Diablo 3, the main antagonist from the first three Diablo games was notably absent from Diablo 4, where Lilith took the role of the primary villain. Since Diablo Immortal is set before Diablo’s downfall in Diablo 3, players will soon confront his threat in an upcoming update, the release date of which remains unannounced.

- October 11 - October 18: Trial of the Hordes
- October 12 - October 19: Fire Before Darkness
In addition to the much-anticipated return of one of the series' most significant bosses, Season 31 promises a wealth of new content for players to explore. Two PvP events will be making a limited-time return: Wild Brawl, running from September 27 to October 4, invites players to engage in arena-style combat, while the Alley of Blood, a team-based single-lane activity, will take place from October 4 to October 11. Following the Alley of Blood, players can participate in the Trial of Hordes until October 18 for the chance to earn exclusive rewards. Additionally, from October 1 to October 8, players can enjoy various activities that offer extra rewards, from gold to legendary items. Season 31 will also introduce several balance adjustments and feature enhancements.
For those who love customizing their characters with unique cosmetic items, Season 31 will provide new opportunities for collection. Despite ongoing debates about microtransactions in Diablo Immortal, Blizzard's action RPG will launch a new purchasable Battle Pass, offering more cosmetic items and Legendary Gems. The in-game shop will feature the Nightmoon Curse cosmetic set for 1,000 Eternal Orbs, and Yakin returns with his Shady Stock, stocked with purchasable items. Furthermore, Blizzard has teased the imminent return of its Halloween-themed event, Hallow’s Wake, with more details set to be revealed on October 7.
