Jas Patrick, the voice behind Frank West in the recently released Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, is rallying fans to express their desire for a remaster of Dead Rising 2: Off the Record through a new survey from Capcom. The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster has garnered positive feedback, featuring a complete graphical overhaul that rejuvenates the classic zombie action game, along with a revamped portrayal of Frank West.
Originally launched in 2011, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record serves as a standalone adventure. It revisits the fan-favorite character Frank West from the original Dead Rising, following the introduction of a new protagonist, Chuck Greene, in Dead Rising 2. Rather than offering an entirely new story, Off the Record retells the same narrative as its predecessor, swapping Chuck for Frank.
Following the successful release of the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, Jas Patrick took to Twitter, urging fans of the series to request a remastered version of Dead Rising 2: Off the Record in Capcom's latest survey.
The survey allows fans to indicate their interest in future Dead Rising games, offering options for Deluxe Remasters from Dead Rising 2 to Dead Rising 4, including Off the Record, the possibility of a full remake, or even an entirely new installment in the series. Many fans echoed Patrick's sentiments, expressing their desire for updated versions of smaller titles such as Case Zero and Case West.
There seems to be considerable enthusiasm among fans for a Dead Rising 2 remaster, but it may not be practical for Capcom to release separate remasters for both Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record, as they are largely similar games with only a change in the lead character. Instead, it’s easy to envision Capcom incorporating an "Off the Record" mode in a potential Dead Rising 2 Deluxe Remaster that features Frank in place of Chuck.
Capcom’s survey also probes fan interest in Deluxe Remasters from other franchises, including Dino Crisis, Onimusha, Lost Planet, Darkstalkers, and even Resident Evil. While the Resident Evil series has already seen numerous acclaimed remakes in recent years, there is a growing demand for a revival of Dino Crisis among many Capcom enthusiasts.
Given that Capcom is currently gathering feedback through this survey, any potential Deluxe Remaster is likely still years away. Meanwhile, fans who enjoyed the initial digital-only release of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster can anticipate the arrival of its physical edition on Xbox and PlayStation, scheduled for November 8.
