The highly anticipated 2-D fighting game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has revealed the exciting addition of two iconic characters from the Street Fighter franchise: Ken Masters and Chun-Li. Set to launch in April 2025, this latest installment is part of a carefully planned roster reveal strategy by developer SNK.
Originally announced during the EVO fighting game competition in 2022, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves aims to breathe new life into the series, which last saw a release in 1999. After offering the first glimpse of gameplay in June, SNK has been steadily teasing fans with updates, showcasing both crossover fighters and the return of beloved Fatal Fury characters.
A newly released trailer showcases Ken and Chun-Li in refreshed versions of their classic outfits from the earlier Street Fighter games. Ken is depicted in his signature red sleeveless gi, while Chun-Li dons her iconic blue qipao. These visuals are contrasted with classic characters from the Fatal Fury universe, such as Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui, who are also set to return in this upcoming title. With the addition of Ken and Chun-Li, the roster currently features 16 characters, and fans can expect more reveals leading up to the game's launch next April.

Despite the rivalry between SNK and Capcom throughout the 1990s in the fighting game arena, their most popular characters have crossed over into each other's franchises multiple times. Notably, Fatal Fury characters Terry and Mai made appearances in Street Fighter 6 earlier this year as part of the game’s Year 2 pass.
This crossover not only brought characters from Fatal Fury into Street Fighter 6, but it also marked the first instance of a game introducing characters from a different developer's franchise into its roster. The positive reception of this move led producer Shuhei Matsumoto to express hope for further crossover character additions in the future.
As Fatal Fury makes its long-awaited return after over 25 years, its characters have remained active within the gaming landscape. This year marks the 30th anniversary of The King of Fighters, a series that has coexisted with Fatal Fury for six years and recently released a new title in 2022. The franchise has consistently featured fighters from various SNK properties, including Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Ikari Warriors, and Psycho Soldier.
