Behaviour Interactive has announced the highly anticipated return of the 2v8 game mode in Dead by Daylight, featuring exciting content and gameplay enhancements scheduled for November. This refreshed version of 2v8 will introduce new playable Killers, maps, and additional features that aim to elevate the fan-favorite mode beyond its previous iteration.
The original 2v8 mode debuted on July 25 and was initially slated to run until August 8. However, due to its overwhelmingly positive reception from players, the developers extended its availability until August 15.
Stefan Beauchamp, the head of production, shared that the team envisions making 2v8 a permanent fixture in Dead by Daylight, with player feedback from its initial release informing future adjustments and improvements. Now, nearly three months after its removal, 2v8 will be reintroduced with exciting new elements.
Mark your calendars for November 12, when the 2v8 mode returns as a limited-time offering, running until November 26. This revamped version incorporates community suggestions, delivering enhanced content and refined gameplay, including new playable Killers, fresh maps, and the introduction of Active Abilities.
- Limited Time: Available from November 12 to November 26.
- Playable Killers: This iteration includes The Trapper, The Wraith, The Hillbilly, The Nurse, The Huntress, The Blight, The Spirit, and The Deathslinger.
- All Survivors Playable: Every Survivor character will be accessible in this mode.
- New Maps: Look forward to 2v8 versions of the Yamaoka Estate and Grave of Glendale, among other maps in the existing Realms.
- Active Abilities for Survivors: Survivors will gain access to Active Abilities and improved Unlock Abilities.
The game will feature four distinct Killer classes: Shadow, Brute, Enforcer, and Fearmonger. Each class caters to a specific playstyle, allowing players to choose how they want to approach gameplay. The Shadow class focuses on stealthy approaches to surprise Survivors, while the Brute class promotes aggressive tactics during chases. The Enforcer class specializes in finishing off injured Survivors, and the Fearmonger class enhances movement across the map to aid fellow Killers.
To balance the gameplay in 2v8, developers will implement Active Abilities for Survivors, along with upgraded Unlock Abilities. Each Survivor class—Guide, Medic, Escapist, and Scout—will have access to two unique abilities. Unlock Abilities will be enhanced to provide distinct perks tailored to each Survivor Class, which can be activated after being sent to a cage, allowing players to make a strategic comeback for their teammates. Active Abilities will charge over time and can be used to raise and repair broken pallets, enhance repair speed, or instantly recover from the Dying State.
Justin Brown, the product director, emphasized the team’s commitment to ensuring players won’t have to wait long intervals between opportunities to engage with the 2v8 mode in Dead by Daylight. The goal is to maintain a consistent release of updates and iterations, promising players plenty of exciting content throughout 2025.
