The eagerly anticipated update 1.52 for Gran Turismo 7 is set to launch soon, bringing a host of fresh content to this beloved racing game. This patch will be accessible to all players and will introduce three new Japanese-branded vehicles, along with new events for World Circuits and various other enhancements.
Gran Turismo 7 faced a rocky start, marred by server problems and the controversial announcement of microtransactions after reviews had already been published. However, since 2022, developer Polyphony Digital has committed to almost monthly free updates, consistently enriching the game with new cars, events, circuits, and quality-of-life improvements. Previous updates have typically included new vehicles and circuits, such as the Eiger Nordwand, which made a comeback from Gran Turismo 6.
Scheduled for release today at 11:00 PM PST for both PS5 and PS4, update 1.52 will add three exciting new Japanese sports cars: the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR GSR '04, Nissan GT-R Premium Edition T-spec '24, and the white Toyota Hiace Van DX '16. With this addition, Gran Turismo 7 will boast a remarkable total of 517 cars, a testament to the meticulous work required to create each vehicle. Among these, three will be special editions.
In addition to the new vehicles, the update will feature new World Circuits events, including the Sunday Cup at Tokyo Expressway, the Nissan GT-R Cup at Circuit de Sainte-Croix, and the Evolution Meeting, which will take place across the Kyoto Driving Park, Autodromo Nazionale Monza, and Colorado Springs circuits.
Furthermore, the Cafe will introduce a new menu titled Collection: Audi, available exclusively to collectors at level 42 or higher. Other notable additions include the inclusion of the AI agent Gran Turismo Sophy in the Brands Hatch - Grand Prix Circuit and Dragon Trail - Seaside tracks, along with Chicago being showcased in Scapes’ featured curation.
Polyphony Digital has shown impressive dedication to supporting Gran Turismo 7, but the game's performance and visuals are expected to reach new heights with the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro. Following its announcement, Sony revealed a list of titles slated for technical upgrades on the PS5 Pro, promising enhancements in frame rate and graphics. Gran Turismo 7 is among those set to benefit from these upgrades, with expectations of 8K graphics in fidelity mode and 60 FPS with ray-traced reflections in what is likely to be performance mode.
The PS5 Pro is set for release on November 7, and players will soon find out whether Sony fulfills its promise to elevate Gran Turismo 7’s visuals without sacrificing performance or if it indeed achieves the legendary 8K resolution.
