Call of Duty: Warzone has finally addressed the long-standing issue of excessive muzzle smoke, improving visibility in close-range encounters. However, players are finding that the fix isn't consistent when it comes to longer distances. This adjustment came as part of Warzone's October update, yet curiously, it wasn’t mentioned in the official patch notes.
With attention shifting toward Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the Season 6 update for both Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 lacked the content many players were anticipating. While a few new weapons and limited-time modes were introduced, the community was left expecting more from the season's final update.
One particular addition that upset many players was the muzzle smoke feature in Season 6. The heavy smoke made it difficult to spot enemies, leading to widespread frustration. Although the developers have since adjusted the smoke, there’s a catch.
A recent post on the Warzone subreddit by user pnokmn revealed an unlisted change in the October update. According to the post, the DTIR’s muzzle smoke was reduced, but not as effectively as some had hoped. Visibility is now much better at close range, but as distance increases, the smoke still obstructs a large portion of the player’s view.
Beyond the muzzle smoke problem, players have voiced concerns over the Blackcell skin. When equipped with the DTIR, the Blackcell blueprint drastically reduces the smoke effect. Although some smoke remains, it's pushed off to the side, allowing for a clearer line of sight—much to the dismay of players without the skin.
This isn’t the first time a weapon has been accused of having a pay-to-win advantage. The MAC-10 in Warzone faced similar accusations in the past, though that case was tied to a bug. This time, however, many believe the difference is intentional, as the standard smoke reduction still pales in comparison to the benefits of the Blackcell blueprint.
To make matters worse, players have also noticed that the muzzle smoke reacts oddly to bullets, especially when using certain scopes. In some cases, the smoke flickers, further distracting players during combat. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 receiving regular updates based on player feedback, fans are hopeful that the developers will bring similar attention to Warzone and address these ongoing issues.
