Remarkably, this was the player’s first encounter with a shundo, despite having caught over 203,000 Pokémon throughout their journey. Adding to the rarity, the Sewaddle was also a lucky Pokémon acquired through a trade with a friend, which is relatively uncommon due to the game’s RNG mechanics and the specific requirements for achieving lucky trades.

A First-of-Its-Kind Catch During Community Day

The shiny Sewaddle's rarity doesn't stop there. The player caught this particular Sewaddle during the recent Community Day event on October 5th, which marked the first opportunity for Pokémon GO players to obtain shiny Sewaddle and any of its evolutions in-game. This makes the player's shundo even more unique, as it was the very first time this type of catch was possible for Sewaddle.

While the Community Day has concluded and the chances of finding a shiny Pokémon like this have diminished, players can still discover rare Pokémon in Pokémon GO.
