It’s not every day that a major mobile strategy franchise steps into third-person shooter territory. But Girls' Frontline: Fire Control, developed by Sunborn’s Hecate team, is aiming to expand the beloved Girls' Frontline universe into a more action-driven format. Formerly known as Project: NET, this upcoming title trades turn-based tactics for real-time firepower—while keeping its roots in a familiar post-dystopian world.

Unlike the original game, where battles play out automatically based on squad setups, Fire Control puts players in direct command of tactical dolls (T-Dolls) on the battlefield. Set in a third-person perspective, the gameplay is designed around responsive gunplay and squad coordination. Two main modes have been confirmed: PvE team-based missions and 5v5 PvP battles. The shift in gameplay opens the door for more dynamic combat scenarios, all while maintaining connections to the original universe.

While the full system details haven’t been revealed, official materials confirm the presence of a “tactical chip” system, allowing for weapon or ability enhancements. How deep this customization goes remains to be seen, but early reports suggest there may be a degree of flexibility in building loadouts. What’s clear is that players won’t just be running and gunning—strategy still plays a key role.
Early promotional footage also mentions features like aim assist, which could help lower the entry barrier for newcomers. However, broader elements such as UI design, control responsiveness, and balance have not yet been independently reviewed or widely tested in public environments. Whether the game strikes the right balance between accessibility and skill ceiling is something only hands-on experience will determine.

As of October 23, 2025, Fire Control has entered a soft launch on Android devices in Thailand. Pre-registration has been active in several Southeast Asian regions. Some media outlets have reported that a full global launch may come as early as November 28, 2025, but this date has not been officially confirmed by Sunborn.
In terms of platform support, there have been media mentions suggesting the game may eventually reach PC. However, specific release windows, platform partners, or crossplay functions have not been detailed by the developers. For now, the focus remains on mobile, with Android taking the lead during the soft launch phase.

Given that Fire Control shares the world of Girls' Frontline, fans naturally wonder how much narrative depth and character development will carry over. Official previews hint at a continuation of the universe rather than a reset, but it’s still unclear how tightly the storylines will intertwine. With no long-form gameplay reviews or narrative breakdowns available yet, the emotional and thematic tone of the game remains an open question.

Whether Girls’ Frontline: Fire Control will become a defining title in the anime-style tactical shooter space remains to be seen. But what we can say with certainty is this: it's a bold pivot from a studio known for experimenting within its own IP. With gameplay that encourages both action and strategy, and a foundation built on a proven universe, Fire Control is worth watching. For now, all eyes are on its upcoming global rollout—and how the GFL community will respond when the T-Dolls trade tactics for trigger time.
