Capcom is once again celebrating its rich history of fighting games with the announcement of Capcom Fighting Collection 2. This exciting new collection brings together eight classic fighting games, including the fan-favorite Power Stone and Power Stone 2 from the Sega Dreamcast era. In recent years, Capcom has been dedicated to reintroducing many of its vintage fighting games to modern audiences, rescuing many from obscurity.
Following the successful release of Capcom Fighting Collection in 2022, which revitalized several beloved titles, Capcom shocked fans earlier this year with the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics. This comprehensive collection made all six classic Marvel vs. Capcom games accessible once more, a feat previously hindered by their exclusivity to older consoles and high prices for physical copies. Many fans could only access these games by purchasing arcade cabinets from Arcade1Up, which, due to their cost, was not an option for everyone. Now, Capcom is continuing this trend with Capcom Fighting Collection 2, featuring additional highly requested games.
Announced during Nintendo's Indie and Partner Direct Showcases, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 features a diverse lineup of eight classic games from Capcom's storied fighting game history. In addition to the much-loved Power Stone titles, the collection includes two Capcom vs. SNK games, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and other notable entries like Plasma Sword, Capcom Fighting Evolution, and Project Justice.
- Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro
- Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001
- Capcom Fighting Evolution
- Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER
- Project Justice
- Power Stone
- Power Stone 2
- Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein
The trailer for Capcom Fighting Collection 2 confirmed that each game in the collection will feature online play with full rollback netcode, a popular addition from the first Capcom Fighting Collection. Players can look forward to Casual and Ranked matches, full Lobby matches, and high score leaderboards. The collection also includes enhancements such as quick saving, one-button specials, customizable UI filters, and a training mode with character hurt boxes.
This announcement follows a recent Capcom reveal at EVO 2024, where the company shadow-launched SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos for modern consoles. Originally released in 2003 for the PS2 and Xbox, this updated version includes rollback netcode from Code Mystics and an in-game gallery showcasing character renders and other artwork, continuing Capcom's tradition of enhancing classic games for new audiences.
