Call of Duty: Warzone has officially confirmed that the iconic Verdansk map will make its long-awaited return in spring 2025. Originally introduced in 2020, Verdansk was the first battle royale map for Warzone, quickly becoming a staple of the game as it surged in popularity during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. For many, Verdansk remains synonymous with Warzone, representing the classic experience of the free-to-play battle royale. Over time, the map underwent various changes, including the introduction of new areas and alterations to its layout.
While some updates to Verdansk were well-received, others didn’t sit as well with players. Eventually, Verdansk was removed from Call of Duty: Warzone and replaced by entirely new maps. For years, fans have been clamoring for the return of Verdansk, and Activision has finally decided to answer those calls.
The news was confirmed during the latest Call of Duty NEXT event, where it was announced that Verdansk will return to Warzone in spring 2025. This aligns with previous rumors and leaks about Verdansk’s comeback, but this marks the first time Activision has officially confirmed the map’s return. Specific details about the returning Verdansk are scarce at this point, but more information is expected to be revealed in the coming months.
While a precise date hasn’t been set, Verdansk is scheduled to return sometime in spring 2025. Fans will recall many iconic points of interest from the original Verdansk map, like the Hospital roof, a hot spot for intense battles over supplies, or the Airport, where snipers would take down distant foes. It's likely these beloved locations will be featured in the new version of Verdansk, but more concrete details will be shared closer to its release.
As players eagerly await Verdansk’s comeback, there are plenty of exciting updates to look forward to in the meantime. Fans of smaller-scale Warzone maps will be pleased with the introduction of the new Area 99 map. This map serves as a nod to Nuketown, one of the franchise’s most iconic traditional multiplayer maps, blending nostalgia with fresh gameplay experiences.
For those who are uninterested in Area 99 or the current lineup of Warzone maps, there’s still a way to enjoy Verdansk before 2025. Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile features Verdansk and is available for play right now. While the mobile version of Verdansk won’t provide the exact same experience as playing on a console, it offers a satisfying alternative that can keep fans entertained as they wait for Verdansk’s official return to Warzone next spring.
