With the launch of Act 3, Destiny 2 introduced one of its most ambitious exotic missions to date: Encore: Overture. However, players have encountered a frustrating problem with this highly anticipated quest. Following the conclusion of Solstice of Heroes, Destiny 2 has embarked on Episode Echoes' final act, drawing players closer to the climactic battle against the Conductor.
As part of the Weekly Reset for Act 3, Bungie unveiled Encore: Overture, a mission that promises to deliver significant rewards. Players have the opportunity to earn the Choir of One auto rifle, a weapon that fires void rounds and uses special ammo. Designed to operate similarly to the void darts from Vex Wyverns, the Choir of One features two firing modes: a slower, heavy-caliber round when aimed down sights and a more explosive shot when fired from the hip, albeit with higher ammo consumption. Despite the excitement surrounding this new weapon, players have been facing a frustrating restriction with the mission.
As players delved into the Encore: Overture mission, many found that the Choir of One wasn’t available as a reward. Reports began to pile up, prompting the official Bungie Help account to address the issue. Bungie acknowledged the problem, explaining that players who were not receiving rewards had likely not completed all quest steps from Acts 1 and 2 with their current character before attempting the new exotic mission.
It remains unclear whether the reward issue is due to a bug or an intended restriction. The mission is one of the initial quests in the Act 3 storyline, which means players encountering this problem might be those who are still progressing through earlier narrative stages or seeking help via LFG sites. Additionally, Bungie has not yet confirmed if they will address this issue, leaving many fans frustrated by the lack of transparency and communication regarding the restriction.
Beyond the reward problem, players have reported other bugs within the mission. These include the final boss possessing an infinite, unbreakable shield, the mission not appearing on the Fireteam Finder tool, and secret chests failing to count towards the catalyst quest.
At present, Bungie has not announced a timeline for fixes to these issues. Given the Choir of One’s growing popularity within the community, it’s likely that these problems will be prioritized. As Destiny 2’s rocket sidearms have already gained a fan following, the new exotic auto rifle's impressive performance is expected to heighten demand for the Encore: Overture mission.
