Call of Duty: Warzone’s Overpowered Shotgun Makes a Comeback

In Call of Duty: Warzone, an overpowered shotgun is once again wreaking havoc. The Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment for the Lockwood 300 has resurfaced in the game's new Supreme Resurgence mode following the Season 5 Reloaded update released on August 21. Players quickly noticed this return and are already speculating about an impending patch.

While the Lockwood 300 was never considered one of the top shotguns in Call of Duty, its reputation changed dramatically with the introduction of a DOOM-inspired bundle in 2023. This bundle, which featured a distinct visual style reminiscent of classic DOOM, included the Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment. This addition allowed players to fire both rounds of the shotgun simultaneously, making it a formidable weapon.

Despite a nerf to the Maelstrom Dual Trigger just a month after the DOOM bundle’s debut, the attachment was later disabled. Now, with the release of Warzone’s Season 5 Reloaded update, Activision appears to have reactivated the dual-shot trigger. Popular YouTubers like Legends6K and tcTekk have highlighted its return, though it's currently only accessible in the Supreme Resurgence game mode.

Supreme Resurgence and the Return of the One-Shot Lockwood 300

Supreme Resurgence, introduced with Season 5 Reloaded, offers a fresh take on the traditional Resurgence mode. While the gameplay remains similar, the loot has received a significant upgrade. Rebirth Island is now teeming with powerful ground loot and meta-driven weapon blueprints. However, this comes with a trade-off: the cost of loadouts has increased, and the Resurgence timer has been extended.

It remains uncertain whether the reappearance of the one-shot Lockwood 300 is intentional or a mistake. Given its impact on the current meta, players are advised to take advantage of this opportunity before Activision potentially disables the Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment once more. Although the DOOM bundle itself is no longer available for purchase, players can recreate the powerful experience by simply creating a new Lockwood 300 class and equipping the Maelstrom Dual Trigger. While it may lack the bundle's unique framerate animation, it will still deliver one-shot kills.

What Else Is New in Season 5 Reloaded

Beyond the introduction of Supreme Resurgence, Call of Duty: Warzone’s Season 5 Reloaded update brings additional content, including Elite Contracts and a new Public Event called Recon Flyover. This event features two waves of Advanced UAVs that reveal enemies who fail to stay out of sight. While the update doesn’t add new weapons, the resurgence of the Lockwood 300 as the meta shotgun is a compelling reason to dive into the latest update before any possible nerfs are implemented.
