Dragon Age: The Veilguard is set to launch on consoles and PC at the end of October, and its director has teased that the Taash romance will be the most passionate in the game. Since the beginning of the Dragon Age series, romanceable companions have been a defining feature, and The Veilguard continues this beloved tradition.
Although this fourth main installment features the smallest companion roster to date, each character can become a romance option, regardless of the player's character gender. This marks a significant shift from previous titles in the series. Aside from the dwarven scout Lace Harding—who was a romance option in Dragon Age: Inquisition despite not being a playable companion—all companions in The Veilguard are fresh faces, giving players ample chances to build new relationships, both romantic and platonic.
However, among all these potential romances, game director Corinne Busche highlighted one in particular as the "steamiest." In a recent interview with IGN, Busche expressed her excitement about the romance with Taash, a Qunari warrior, and described the love scene featuring her as "shockingly delightful." "When I got to that scene and saw the finished version of that cinematic, I was hollering," she revealed.
But it’s not just the allure of a thrilling romance that makes the dragon hunter an appealing addition to players' parties. The Qunari are a mysterious race characterized by their metallic skin and horned heads, bound by a strict philosophical code known as the Qun. Notably, while Dragon Age 2 featured a significant conflict instigated by the Qunari in Kirkwall, Taash offers players a chance to uncover the secrets of her people that have been long awaited.
Taash is only the second Qunari character available for romance in a mainline Dragon Age game and the first female Qunari. Throughout the series, various races—including a golem and a massive hound—have served as playable companions since the original game. However, the ability to romance a Qunari was first introduced with The Iron Bull in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
The romance with the charismatic leader of The Bull's Chargers mercenary company featured a memorable comedic moment where Cullen, Isabela, and Cassandra each stumbled upon the Iron Bull lounging naked in bed, basking in the afterglow. Given that iconic scene, it’s no surprise that actor Freddie Prinze Jr. considers Iron Bull his favorite role. With Busche's remarks about Taash, it seems her romance may offer equally unforgettable moments.
