Niantic has revealed an exciting lineup of new Pokémon set to debut during the Pokémon GO Wild Area event, including a Snorlax dressed in a studded jacket and the return of both Pikachu Pop Star and Rock Star. While Pikachu in its Pop Star and Rock Star forms has made appearances in the past, this will mark the first time players can encounter this unique costumed Snorlax.
Kicking off the Max Out season in September, Pokémon GO has seen a steady stream of new events, featuring the newly introduced Dynamax feature and fresh Pokémon debuts. It’s been an exhilarating season for players, and another event is on the horizon next month, promising additional Pokémon variants for fans to catch.
Recently, Niantic shared more details about the Pokémon GO Wild Area event, highlighting several Pokémon that will be exclusively available during this special occasion. One of the stars of the event is a costumed Snorlax, making its debut in the game.
This special Snorlax will don a black studded jacket and can be found in the wild during the Pokémon GO Wild Area: Fukuoka event. For those participating in the Global event, this Snorlax will be available in 3-star raids instead. Lucky trainers will also have the chance to catch a shiny version of this unique Pokémon.
In addition to Snorlax, Pikachu Pop Star and Rock Star will return to Pokémon GO as part of the event lineup. These popular Pikachu variants were last seen during GO Fest 2021, and fans have eagerly awaited their comeback. For the first time, Pop Star and Rock Star Pikachu will also be available in their shiny forms during this event.
When it comes to catching these musical Pokémon, trainers will need a bit of luck. The shiny odds for Pop Star and Rock Star Pikachu stand at 1 in 512. Players can encounter these Pikachu variants through Special Research tasks, Collection Challenges, or the GO Snapshot feature.
While excitement runs high for these new additions, some players have expressed frustration over the limited availability of the studded jacket Snorlax in different events. Many participating in the Global event hoped this special Snorlax would also be available in the wild. Instead, they will have to engage in challenging 3-star raids in Pokémon GO to capture it.
Moreover, the fact that encounters with Pop Star and Rock Star Pikachu are exclusive to Wild Area ticket holders has left some players feeling disappointed. The Pokémon GO Wild Area event is set to take place on November 23 and 24, 2024, so fans should mark their calendars!
