In Black Myth: Wukong, players will face a myriad of boss battles, each presenting unique challenges, attack patterns, and difficulties. When not engaged in these high-stakes confrontations, you'll be exploring expansive regions in search of valuable loot and resources.
During your exploration, you'll encounter various characters and NPCs. Some will offer assistance, while others will seek your help in exchange for rewards. One of the key quests you'll undertake is the Horse Guai quest. Although it spans the entirety of the game, the rewards make it a worthwhile endeavor.
The Horse Guai quest is one of the first major quests in the game and can easily be missed if you're not attentive.
1. Starting Point:
From the Bamboo Grove - Back Hills Keeper's Shrine, head down and take a left to enter a cave. Inside, you'll find the Horse Guai character in the corner. Interact with him and make sure to exhaust all his dialogue to start the quest.
2. Quest Overview:
This quest requires you to find the Horse Guai in four different locations across various chapters and interact with him thoroughly at each site. Missing him in any chapter and progressing further will lock you out of completing the quest.
Location: From the Sandgate Village - Village Entrance Keeper's Shrine, turn around and cross the wooden bridge. You'll encounter a door that cannot be opened from this side, so take a detour around to the right.
Find Horse Guai: Just before reaching the previously mentioned door, you’ll find the Horse Guai trapped near a statue. Remember to exhaust all his dialogue options.
Location: From the New Thunderclap Temple - Temple Entrance Keeper's Shrine, enter the building and use the stairs on the left. Descend the stairs and proceed straight into the adjacent building.
Find Horse Guai: Inside, locate the stairs on your right and climb to the upper floor. Head left to the wooden bridge where the Horse Guai stands by one of the pillars. Engage with him and exhaust his dialogue.
Location: From the Webbed Hollow - Middle Hollow Keeper's Shrine, from the ledge to the right of the shrine, drop down and follow the path until you reach the arena where you fight Centipede Guai.
Find Horse Guai: After defeating the Centipede Guai, follow the torch-marked path at the back of the arena. Continue forward until you see a giant cocoon. Strike the cocoon a few times to trigger a cutscene where the Horse Guai will be freed. Once again, remember to exhaust all his dialogue.
Location: From the Furnace Valley - Valley Entrance, proceed ahead and descend until you reach the lava level. Move to the right side while avoiding the lava.
Find Horse Guai: You’ll eventually find a cart surrounded by enemies. Defeat the enemies and interact with the cart by pulling the string. The Horse Guai is trapped here and will speak to you. Ensure you exhaust all his dialogue options.
Once you've located and interacted with the Horse Guai in all specified locations, complete Chapter Five. After finishing the chapter, return to the last location where the Horse Guai was trapped inside the cart. Interact with the cart and pull the string, which will now display "Pull Forcefully." This final action will complete the Horse Guai quest and reward you with the Dark Thunder Transformation.
