Just two days after its release, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has delivered a fresh update aimed at resolving some initial issues players encountered. Though this patch isn’t extensive, it tackles several bugs, particularly those causing crashes during critical moments early in the game.
Launched on September 9, the highly anticipated hack-and-slash shooter quickly garnered attention, featuring both co-op PvP and PvE modes. Space Marine 2 became an instant success on Steam, attracting over 250,000 players within its first 24 hours and earning an impressive 80% approval rating from the community.
The latest patch, Hotfix 2.1, dropped on September 11, addressing crashes and a range of additional bugs. Players who experienced game crashes during startup or the opening cinematic can expect these issues to be resolved, along with other glitches that interrupted progression in the story mode.
While this update doesn’t introduce significant new content, patch notes suggest a bigger update is on the horizon later in September. Among the upcoming features Saber Interactive aims to implement are ultrawide monitor support, private PvE lobbies, and a brand-new Sparring Arena located in the Battle Barge. Additionally, there may be more surprises in store for fans as the month progresses.
Despite the early setbacks like crashes and softlocks, the game has been met with overwhelming enthusiasm, even breaking franchise records for concurrent players in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Although Space Marine 2 was initially targeted by a review bombing campaign during its early access phase—due to concerns over data collection policies and the automatic installation of Epic Online Services—this hasn’t stopped the game from maintaining a 'Very Positive' rating on Steam.
- Resolved rare crashes that occurred when launching the game.
- Fixed an infrequent crash during the first cutscene.
- Addressed several other rare crashes.
- Fixed bugs causing softlocks in the story mode.
- Optimized CPU performance on high-end processors.
With the promise of exciting new features and further optimizations, Space Marine 2 is poised to continue its momentum in the gaming community. Fans should keep an eye out for the upcoming major update later this month.
