Pokémon GO has officially announced that Sewaddle will take center stage during October’s Community Day. While the month is typically associated with Halloween-themed festivities, players of the augmented reality game will instead have the opportunity to catch this charming little critter and take advantage of various in-game bonuses during the event.
Sewaddle, a Bug/Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation 5, is not just cute but also surprisingly useful. Resembling a caterpillar, Sewaddle is known for its ability to craft clothes out of leaves, which makes it a beloved choice for fashion-forward trainers. It evolves into Swadloon at level 20, and with maximum friendship, Swadloon can further evolve into Leavanny, giving players access to a well-rounded Pokémon with solid base stats.
Now, Pokémon GO has confirmed that Sewaddle will headline October’s Community Day. The event is set for October 5, running from 10 AM to 5 PM local time. During the event, Sewaddle will appear more frequently in the wild, and lucky trainers may even encounter its shiny version. Players who evolve Swadloon into Leavanny during the event will get a special Leavanny that knows the exclusive Fast Attack, Shadow Claw. Additionally, a Special Research ticket will be available for $1 USD, offering trainers even more perks. Other bonuses include double Candy for catching Pokémon, reduced Stardust costs for trades, and extended Lure Module durations.
- Date: Saturday, October 5, 2024
- Time: 10 AM to 5 PM local time
- Featured Pokémon: Sewaddle
- Exclusive Move: Evolve Swadloon into Leavanny to learn Fast Attack, Shadow Claw

After the Community Day event wraps up, special 4-star raids featuring Swadloon will be available from 5 PM to 10 PM local time. Successfully defeating Swadloon in these raids will cause Sewaddle to spawn around the hosting gym for 30 minutes, providing more chances to catch this adorable Pokémon. In addition, Niantic will introduce a brand-new Ultra Community Day Box, along with two bundles priced at 1,350 and 480 PokéCoins. The event will also feature themed Field Research that rewards players with items like Great Balls and Stardust, along with PokeStop Showcases and event-themed stickers that can be obtained by spinning PokeStops, opening gifts, or purchasing them in-game.
While anticipation builds for October’s Community Day, there’s plenty to keep trainers engaged throughout September. The Psychic Spectacular event, which runs from September 18 to 22, will mark the Pokémon GO debut of Hatenna, and following that, Oranguru and Passimian will take the spotlight during Research Day on September 22. In addition, the shiny version of Zacian will become available in the Legendary Heroes event beginning September 26, ensuring there’s no shortage of excitement as players gear up for Sewaddle’s debut.
