Juno has quickly become a dominant force in Overwatch 2's current meta. Balancing heroes has always been a challenge for the game, with some heroes either feeling too powerful or struggling to find their place. Despite initial concerns, Juno has seamlessly secured her spot in the Support lineup, even though she's been slightly nerfed since her trial phase.
Juno, the 41st hero to join Overwatch 2, made her debut on August 20 with the launch of Season 12. Previously known as Space Ranger, her arrival was eagerly awaited by players after months of anticipation. During her test period, reactions were mixed, with some players claiming she was overpowered. However, after some tweaks to her abilities, Juno has settled into a surprising position of prominence in Blizzard’s popular shooter.
At the moment, Juno is the most-played hero in Overwatch 2. Data from Overbuff shows that for Competitive PC players in the Platinum division — where a large portion of the community resides — Juno boasts a pick rate of 8.79% and a win rate of 53.12%. She has risen to the top across most ranks, surpassing fan-favorites like Tracer, D.Va, Kiriko, and Mercy. The only exceptions are in Bronze and Grandmaster tiers, where Ana claims the top spot while Juno comes in second.
Juno’s dominance isn't limited to PC. For console players at Platinum rank this month, she holds a pick rate of 8.21% and an even higher win rate of 54.45%. From Gold all the way to Master, Juno continues to be the go-to hero, leaving behind heavyweights like D.Va, Mercy, Moira, and Sombra. The only outliers are the lower Bronze and Silver ranks, where Moira takes the lead, pushing Juno to third place, and Grandmaster, where D.Va reigns supreme.
Juno’s success comes after a series of tweaks aimed at balancing her abilities. Upon her introduction to Overwatch 2, she received a few quality-of-life changes, including a reduction in her health from 250 to 225. The August 23 update gave her a slight boost, increasing the damage of her Mediblaster from 7 to 8 and reducing the cooldown on Glide Boost from 8 to 6 seconds.
Another patch, released on September 3, brought further adjustments. The fire rate of her Mediblaster was increased to 15.5, though its damage was dialed back to 7.5, and its healing rate reduced to 6.5. Despite these changes, Juno has unexpectedly surged in popularity, and it will be intriguing to see whether she can maintain her momentum through Season 12 and beyond.
